The Shepard avocado is a popular variety, second only to the Hass avocado. The flesh of the Shepard is slightly firmer to the touch over the Hass and has a rich buttery taste.
Harvesting season for the Shepard is from February to April (depending on your region).
The Shepard avocado tree has a 'B' type flower so it is recommended an 'A' type avocado tree is planted close by to encourage cross-pollination and improve fruit set.
